- JB追悼ムック。あぁ本当に亡くなっちゃったんだなと改めてショック。来日時の写真を眺めつつ、生きている間に生で観ておいて良かったなとしみじみと感慨に耽ってしまいました。
- お別れセレモニーのラストがダニー・レイのガウンかけだったのを読んだら涙腺がジュワッと緩みました。たまらん演出。
- ウルフルズの出囃子が「クロス・ファイヤリング」て渋過ぎるセンス。どんな曲だったか俄かには思い出せず聴き直してしまいました(やっぱり渋い)。
- 忌野清志郎さんも取材に答えられる程度にはお元気になられているようでなによりです。
- 「ライブ・イン・パリ’71」発売時のハリー・ワインガー氏の思い出話(「<サニー>が入っていなかったね」)とか、ニヤッとしてしまうような新ネタも思ったよりあって楽しかった。
- ジミー・ノーランの初参加曲が「パパのニュー・バッグ」で、いきなりあのブリッジのカッティング決めていたとは格好良い。
- ワイモン・リードというと「ソウル・プライド」収録のライブ「タイトゥン・アップ」で素晴らしくブリリアントなソロを吹いていたということで記憶していましたが(好き過ぎてその昔トランペットを購入したぐらい)、本書によるとフレッド・ウェズリーを一度はJBファミリーに、もう一度はカウント・ベイシー・バンドに、二度も勧誘していて相当仲が良かったことが窺えます。そんな歴史的な役回りが。
- ディスクガイド部分については今更という感じでツラツラと読んでいたのですが、JBズ「ブレイキン・ブレッド」のB②「メイキン・ラヴ」がオハイオ・プレイヤーズ「スキン・タイト」のカヴァーであることを始めて知りました。オハイオ不感症のJBズ・ラヴァーとしては、目覚める契機になるかもしれないので聴いてみたいところですが、ちょっと手を出し辛いアイテム。

- 「グッゴー!」は「Good gaud!」だという「スター・タイム」ボックスの解説を長らく信じていましたが、検索してみると「Good God!」の方が信憑性が高そうです。日本限定の珍説なんだろうか。
